The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has disbursed loans to 60 women in six cooperatives in line with the federal government’s commitment to boosting agricultural production and ending food importation.
Speaking during the commissioning of a new branch office of the bank and disbursement of loans to women groups in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, BOA Managing Director Dr Kabiru Adamu, represented by the General Manager, Corporate Services Division of the bank, Mohammed Babangida, said with the new office in the council, the bank now has eight branches in the state.
Adamu said the new branch of the bank would bring succour to farmers in the local government in accessing the loan without having to travel far.
The Emir of Lere, Brigadier-General Garba Mohammed, asked beneficiaries not to take it as political campaign proceeds, but loans to facilitate their farm production, which must be returned, to enable other farmers benefit.
