Kaduna – As part of plans to boost agriculture in northern Nigeria, the New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Haske and Williams Limited.

The agreement was signed to identify, develop opportunities pertaining to the agricultural sector in the North.

Haske and Williams has its principal place of business Lagos and other offices across the country.

As an agribussiness development company focused on identifying and developing opportunities in Nigeria’s agricultural space, it also harnesses Nigeria’s natural endowments for the development of industrial scale agricultural projects that can contribute to the diversification of the Nigerian economy and provide socio economic advancement for the host communities where the projects are located.

In the press release made available to DAILY INDEPENDENT and signed by the Chairman of the NNDC, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir Dalhatu, he said the company has a large integrated rice farm at Demsa Local Government Area in Adamawa State and another integrated cassava production project in Kaima in Kwara State, among others.

He disclosed that the signing of the agreement was another significant milestone recorded by NNDC in its quest to develop agriculture in the region, which is one of the major priority areas of its current strategic Development plan.

According to the statement, “It could also be recalled that NNDC recently registered and promoted a commodity marketing company, the new Nigeria Commodity Marketing Company Limited which is an agricultural storage and marketing company.

“It also recently recapitalized NNIL Commercial Company Limited which is involved in the supply and marketing of agricultural implements and inputs,

“With the signing of this agreement, NNDC is now poised to commence real agricultural produce productions and development.

“After much discussions with them, we discovered that this partnership will provide employment opportunities for our people and also be a pride to our people.

“It will be an example for others to follow. We will be committed knowing that where NNDC is concerned a lot of interests are there. We promise not to fail our people in northern Nigeria.”
